How to use this calculator
- Choose a date that matches the first day of the first workweek.
- Fill seven days for week one and seven for week two; leave unworked days empty.
- Compare the two weekly allocations, then export the combined daily record for your pay-period review.
Formula
Calculate week one and week two independently using the selected rule. Biweekly worked time is their sum; biweekly overtime is the sum of their separately allocated overtime minutes. Do not use an eighty-hour threshold as a substitute for two weekly calculations.
Worked examples
Week one illustration: five ten-hour shifts
Schedule: 10:00 + 10:00 + 10:00 + 10:00 + 10:00 of net worked time. The engine calculates 50:00 (50.00 hours).
Regular: 40:00 (40.00 h); overtime: 10:00 (10.00 h); double time: 0:00 (0.00 h). At $24.00 per hour, estimated gross pay is $1,320.00.
Biweekly work hours calculator
A fourteen-day pay period is convenient for payroll, but it does not erase workweek boundaries. The card sends the first seven rows and the next seven rows through separate engine calls. If you work fifty hours in the first federal-model week and thirty in the second, the result still contains ten overtime hours. Reviewing the combined eighty hours alone would hide that difference. Confirm the start date before entering a large batch of punches.
Close out a two-week record
Use the daily H:MM values to compare source punches, then compare decimal hours with the totals in your payroll system. Check that late-night work is assigned consistently because this calculator assigns a shift to the day it begins. Print both weeks together for a readable record or download CSV for further review. The single hourly-rate field applies across the card; changes in rate within the period require a separate pay reconciliation.
Review the midpoint explicitly
Pay particular attention to rows seven and eight, where the engine begins a new week. A Sunday-to-Saturday schedule and a Monday-to-Sunday schedule can place the same weekend work into different groups. This card assumes its first date starts a complete workweek, so it cannot repair a mismatched period simply because fourteen rows are present. Compare the employer’s defined boundary with the dates on both sides of that midpoint before relying on the overtime result.
Frequently asked questions
Does this average hours across both weeks?
No. Overtime is calculated independently for each group of seven days. A short second week does not cancel overtime produced by a longer first week.
Is this the biweekly work hours calculator too?
Yes. That phrase describes the same fourteen-day task. This page includes time totals and optional pay rather than sending you to another duplicate calculator.
Can I use a semimonthly period?
A semimonthly period can contain a different number of days and split workweeks. This tool always uses fourteen rows in two complete weeks; use it only when those boundaries match the records you are checking.
