Times such as 915, 9.15am, 9:15 PM, and 21:15 work. A shift ending earlier than it starts is treated as overnight. Shifts belong to the day they start.

How to use this calculator

  1. Set the week start and enter actual daily work punches.
  2. Leave absences blank and add unpaid meal minutes or split segments where needed.
  3. Review totals, add a regular rate if desired, and print or export the record.

Formula

Timesheet hours = sum of daily net worked minutes ÷ sixty. Apply overtime within the selected workweek rather than the pay-period average. Gross pay is the sum of the regular, 1.5×, and 2× pay buckets produced by that rule.

Worked examples

A mixed five-day timesheet

Schedule: 7:30 + 8:00 + 8:30 + 8:00 + 7:00 of net worked time. The engine calculates 39:00 (39.00 hours).

Regular: 39:00 (39.00 h); overtime: 0:00 (0.00 h); double time: 0:00 (0.00 h). At $24.00 per hour, estimated gross pay is $936.00.

Prepare a timesheet someone can review

A useful timesheet should be easy to trace back to the day it describes. Check the date at the top before editing the weekday rows. Keep a separate note for a corrected punch so a reviewer understands why it differs from the original clock log. This calculator provides arithmetic and an export; it does not submit the record to an employer or supply an approval signature. Follow your workplace’s submission process after checking the numbers.

Choose a format for the handoff

Printing is convenient for a paper review, while CSV opens as tabular data in spreadsheet software. The decimal column helps transfer hours into numeric fields without treating minutes as hundredths. If you need an unfilled record, the timesheet template page offers weekly and biweekly CSV downloads. If your actual period covers fourteen days, the dedicated biweekly page calculates the two workweeks separately and avoids hiding overtime inside a combined total.

Review before submission

Check that all worked days are present and that sample entries have been replaced or removed. Confirm the date range, unpaid deductions, and any weekend work before comparing the final sum with another system. A rate entered for an earlier review may still be present in the browser draft, so verify it again when beginning a new card. Printing or exporting is an intentional handoff step; the calculator itself does not notify a reviewer or employer.

Frequently asked questions

Is this an official employer timesheet?

No. It is a personal calculation and review tool. Use your employer’s required attendance and approval system for the final submission.

Can I save a draft?

The card saves in this browser’s localStorage after it loads. A draft will not follow you to another device, and private browsing or cleared storage may remove it. Export records you need to retain.

Can I use the total in Excel?

Yes. Export CSV and open it in Excel or import it into Google Sheets. Keep the decimal-hours column numeric; the H:MM column is primarily a human-readable duration.
